My old mum and I moved into a prefab on Brockley grove just off dog pool lane (dads lane) in moseley in about 1959 and my old mum thought it was heaven, it had a "fitted kitchen" i.e a built in washing machine, she'd always had to do her washing by hand before and in both bedrooms were "metal" fitted wardrobes. As it was detached, standing surounded with a nice little garden we both loved it. unfortunatly it' now been demolished and Brockley grove is now unsign posted and is a dog walking area but I will always have very fond memories of mom's little "bungalow".

So many wonderful memeories of living in Brockley Grove. 1951/1959. Playing on the roape swing up the woods. Exploring the old allotments, paddling in the River Rae. 71 years old now, but my memories will last for ever. Fond memories of Susan Whitehouse, Betty Heath, Susan Brough, where are they now?
ReplyDeleteHi Christine, I'm trying to find some photos of Brockley Grove and some history. We are a volunteer community conservation group working in the area and we would like to do a small heritage type project and reveal and plant the turning circle area and have information QR codes or information boards about the space. A piece of history we think is of value to save.
ReplyDeleteMy email is ianandhelen@hotmail.com. My name is Helen and I live very close by to Brockly Grove and love it and the woodlands.
